Lincoln Cathedral Library
Since its foundation in 1910 by the Reverend Canon Charles Wilmer Foster, a canon of Lincoln Cathedral, the Lincoln Record Society has enjoyed a close relationship with Lincoln Cathedral Library; a partnership which is, today, closer than ever. The Society’s Honorary General Editor, Dr Nicholas Bennett, is Cathedral Librarian and Vice-Chancellor, the secretarial work of the Society is carried out from offices within the Library, and the Society’s collection of published volumes and its own archive are housed there.
Lincoln Cathedral Library is itself home to a rich, diverse and expansive collection of medieval manuscripts, early printed books including some 100 incunabula, and a modern reference collection specialising particularly in church history, art and architecture. The Library also houses part of the Dean & Chapter archive.
The Society is pleased to be associated with the Cathedral Library’s programme of lectures, including this year lectures given by two of the Society’s Council members, Dr David Crook and Dr Nicholas Bennett.
Information on how to access the Society’s collections, those of the Cathedral Library and more details of the Cathedral Library’s lecture programme can be found on the menu bar to the left of this section, or by contacting the Society’s Honorary Secretary whose contact details are listed on the contacts page.
